Lull Mattresses Pair Best with Bed Frames and Foundations, With or Without a Box Spring

Top Questions

What is the Luxe Hybrid Mattress made of?

The Luxe Hybrid Mattress is 13 inches tall, combining multiple foam comfort layers — including a gel-bead cooling layer — with a base of 609 individually pocketed coils in the queen size. Each coil moves independently to provide responsive support, limit motion transfer, and allow airflow through the mattress core. This combination of foam comfort and coil support is what makes the Luxe Hybrid sleep cooler, feel more responsive, and deliver more durable support than all-foam mattresses.

What firmness level is the Luxe Hybrid Mattress?

The Luxe Hybrid Mattress has a medium firmness level. The pocketed coil base provides responsive support and push-back, while the foam comfort layers above contour to the body for pressure relief. This balance makes it well-suited for back sleepers, side sleepers, and combination sleepers across a wide weight range.

Does the Luxe Hybrid sleep cooler than an all-foam mattress?

Yes — and independently measured data confirms it. NapLab rated the Luxe Hybrid 9.0 out of 10 for cooling in lab testing, placing it among the best-performing mattresses in that category at any price. The cooling comes from two sources: a gel-bead layer that absorbs and redistributes body heat at the surface, and a pocketed coil base that allows air to circulate through the mattress core rather than trapping it. For warm or hot sleepers who have found all-foam mattresses uncomfortable, the difference is meaningful.

Is the Luxe Hybrid Mattress good for back pain?

Yes. The Luxe Hybrid received a 9.0 out of 10 pressure relief score from NapLab in independent lab testing. The pocketed coil base provides consistent lumbar support regardless of body weight, while the foam comfort layers above contour to fill the natural curve of the lower back. This combination — support from below, adaptive contouring from above — is the profile most often associated with back pain relief. The all-foam Lull options also address back pain, but the Luxe Hybrid maintains its support profile more consistently across different body weights over time.

What is the trial and return policy for the Luxe Hybrid Mattress?

The Luxe Hybrid includes a 365-night sleep trial. If you are not satisfied at any point within 365 nights, contact Lull to arrange a return. Lull arranges pickup at your door at no charge — no need to repackage the mattress or save the original box.

I sleep hot — is the Luxe Hybrid actually going to make a difference?

Yes — the difference is measurable. NapLab rated the Luxe Hybrid 9.0/10 for cooling in independent lab testing, placing it among the top performers at any price. If you are currently on an all-foam mattress and waking up hot, switching to the Luxe Hybrid typically produces a noticeable improvement. The gel-bead layer regulates heat at the surface; the coil base keeps air moving through the entire mattress core.

My partner and I both sleep warm — can the Luxe Hybrid handle two hot sleepers?

Yes — this is one of the Luxe Hybrid's strongest use cases. The coil system promotes airflow across the full width of the mattress, not just one side, and the gel-bead layer works surface-wide. Two warm sleepers on the Luxe Hybrid fare significantly better than on any all-foam mattress. The pocketed coil system also means each partner's weight is supported independently — no hammocking effect in the center when two people sleep on opposite sides.

I'm a back sleeper who runs warm and has lower back pain — which Lull mattress is best?

The Luxe Hybrid directly addresses all three. The coil and foam support system handles lumbar alignment; the gel-bead and coil airflow handle temperature. NapLab independently scored it 9.0/10 for both cooling and pressure relief — the combination performs at the top of its category on both dimensions simultaneously. This is the most common profile for which the Luxe Hybrid is recommended.

My partner moves a lot at night — does the Luxe Hybrid transfer more motion than an all-foam mattress?

Slightly, but not significantly for most couples. Hybrids transmit marginally more motion than all-foam because coil springs have some inherent energy. The Luxe Hybrid uses individually pocketed coils, which are substantially better at motion isolation than connected innerspring coils — each coil moves independently, limiting motion spread. For the large majority of couples, pocketed coil motion isolation is fully acceptable. If motion isolation is your single top priority above all else, all-foam provides a slight edge in that one dimension.

I weigh over 200 lbs — is the Luxe Hybrid better than Lull's foam options?

Yes, generally. The pocketed coil support system provides consistent, durable support regardless of body weight, whereas all-foam mattresses compress more deeply at heavier weights and may soften faster over time. The Luxe Hybrid maintains its support profile more reliably for heavier sleepers. The responsive push-back from the coil base is also often more comfortable for heavier back or stomach sleepers who need more resistance.

How many coils does the Luxe Hybrid have?

The Luxe Hybrid queen contains 609 individually pocketed coils. That count is competitive with premium hybrids priced significantly higher. A higher coil count per square inch generally means finer motion isolation, more responsive support, and better edge support — all of which the Luxe Hybrid delivers.

How does the Luxe Hybrid compare to Purple or Casper Wave Hybrid?

All three are strong hybrid options. The Luxe Hybrid distinguishes itself on independently measured cooling — NapLab's 9.0/10 score is competitive with or above the Purple Hybrid and most Casper hybrid models. Casper Wave focuses on zoned support for back pain; Purple's grid layer creates a distinct feel that sleepers either love or find too firm. Lull's practical advantages: a 365-night trial (longer than Casper's 100 nights and equivalent to Purple's), and a competitive price at equivalent sizes.

What foundation or frame does the Luxe Hybrid require?

Platform beds, slatted frames with slats no more than 3 inches apart, adjustable bases, and Lull's mattress foundation all work. Box springs are not recommended. The Luxe Hybrid's coil base benefits from solid perimeter support — ensure the frame or foundation supports the full edge, not just center slats. Inadequate edge support can reduce edge performance and affect long-term durability.

Reviews

"The mattress is a bit firmer than the lull original. But not super hard like a board. A simple mattress topper would fix that. The bundle with free pillows and sheets was great! Not a fan that they were white though 🤔 love how they use FedEx but I didn’t get to pick the day it would be delivered on. Porch pirates are among us this fall. Glad I was able to hold the separate deliveries. Still like lulls sales and have tried their original mattress before; that one is softer if you want that!! I don’t mind this mattress."

— Jennifer (5/5)

"The delivery was terrible. I just had surgery and I can’t lift very much weight and this guy put it outside the gate of my house instead of bringing it up on the porch by my door, which was about 10 yards away."

— RUSSELL (1/5)

"it's a little to hard for my back, but I have a mattress pad I'm gonna use. That helps make it more comfortable. Thanks so much!"
